English conductor IVOR BOLTON is regarded as one of the leading experts on early music, not least because of the cycle of operas by Monteverdi and Handel he conducted at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, performances that were highly acclaimed by audiences and critics. However, Bolton’s wide-ranging repertoire also includes works by Cavalli, Gluck, and Mozart and extends to Britten and Stravinsky. Internationally in demand as a conductor of Baroque music and equally of contemporary compositions, Ivor Bolton has been principal conductor of the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra since the season 2004/05. He conducts the orchestra regularly at the Mozart Week, the Salzburg Festival, and the Salzburg Whitsun Festival and on tour.
