Internationally recognized for his intelligent and perceptive interpretations of the classical repertoire, PAUL LEWIS is highly regarded as one of the leading pianists of his generation. He studied with Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, before going on to study privately with Alfred Brendel. Having been awarded many major prizes Paul Lewis performs regularly in the world’s most prestigious venues and festivals. He has a particularly close association with the Wigmore Hall in London. He appears as a soloist with leading orchestras, including all of Great Britain’s major orchestras and works together with eminent conductors. Togeher with his wife, the Norwegian cellist Bjørg Lewis, he is artistic director of the Midsummer Music Festival, a festival of chamber music that takes place annually in the English county of Buckinghamshire.
